All the latest news and opinions from around the internet. Plus a nice little bonus for those who may be looking for a new car..................

Our first story comes from AutoExpress who are reporting that around a third of all vehicle fires each year are down to arson. The number of fires set deliberately numbers around 18,000 annually, however, this has little effect on your motor insurance premium.

It is reported in The Motor Trader magazine that the European car market saw a 9.3% increase in new vehicle sales in August 2016. This followed on from a dip in July, but overall the 2016 year to date figures show an increase of 7.6% when compared to 2015.

From AM Online we learn that the Mitsubishi Outlander plug-in retains its position as the most popular vehicle in the ultra-low-carbon hybrid market with just under 22,000 units registered in the UK for the first 6 months of 2016.

This last report was something we originally missed when it was released on the 7th September, but for those who are in the market for a new car then you may find this useful. Motoring Research has released a guide on vehicles you can currently buy in the UK on 0% finance.

For those who would normally pay 'cash' this can be a sensible alternative. Of course for those who normally use the finance route then this could save hundreds or even thousands of pounds. Well done to Motoring Research and the author Gavin Braithwaite-Smith for putting this great resource together.
