The New Vauxhall VXR8 GTS

Vauxhall have announced a new model that will rival the likes of the BMW M5 and the Jaguar XFR in terms of the power output. Vauxhall have developed a supercharged 6.2 litre V8 engine to rival the likes of the M5 and it is believed that the power output will be a total of 24bhp more than the M5.

In terms of price, the VXR8 will also look to undercut the rival models as it its believed to be priced in the region of £54,999 and Vauxhall are proud to say that this car will be the inexpensive way to buy a new car with 500bhp+.

The upgraded model will have an additional supercharger on the model along with a whole host of other optional upgrades. A new exhaust system along with improved cooling and air intake systems are essential to the additional torque the model will receive. Vauxhall are yet to officially release any performance figures on the model, but what we can be sure of is that the new model will be better than the previous.

The outgoing VXR8 GTS model currently has a 0-60mph time of 4.9 seconds along with a top speed of 155mph. However, the improvements on the new model should allow the 0-60 time to have at least a tenth of a second shaved off.

In terms of external changes, the new Vauxhall VXR8 GTS will vaguely resemble the likes of the Corsa or the Astra as the model has been specifically designed to appear wider. The front grille is a completely new design and the spoiler and integrated quad exhausts at the rear of the model are what separates from the rest.

Vauxhall will look to aim at the same market as the BMW M3 and the Jaguar XFR model even though they are in a completely different price bracket. The likes of the BMW and Jaguar models come with a different set of attributes compared to that of the Vauxhall model.
