February 26, 2014

The Vauxhall Astra has claimed the 6th position in the top ten best selling cars for 2014. In January alone, the company sold over 3,399 models. The long time rival to the Ford Focus is a big, comfortable car for the family hatch class and it's stylings are best shown in the coupe-like GTC variants.

The Vauxhall company have been producing Astra models since 1979 and it has been a UK favourite for a long time. The most recent version, the MKV, was launched in 2009 marking a significant change in the firm's family hatchbacks, seeing the overall looks replaced with a sleeker sportier design.

These include the Expression, Design, Energy, Limited Edition, Tech Line, Tech Line GT, SRi, Elite and B-Turbo. All versions, except for the entry level Expression model, receive alloy wheels and extra chrome embellishments. The Astra model has been awarded a five star rating by Euro NCAP for it's six airbags and electronic stability control, with active head restraints standard on the Sri models and above. Adaptive Xenon headlights are also offered on the Vauxhall Astra as a

n option for better night time vision in corners.

Only time will tell if the Vauxhall Astra is able to retain or improve on it's place as 6th best selling UK car model in the future.
