Volkswagen Polo line up updated
February 28, 2014

German automakers, Volkswagen appear to be face-lifting a few of their range for 2014, with both their Scirrocco and Cross Polo being altered for the Geneva Motor Show next week.

The Cross Polo joined the standard BlueMotion and GTI models in 2010, as the fourth variant in the range. It is only available as a five door model.

The updated Volkswagen Cross Polo specs

The compact crossover Cross model will be offered with three petrol and diesel engines, ranging from 74 brake horse power to 108 brake horse power.

On the outside the model gains silver accents on it's 17 inch rims, side view mirrors, roof rails and the lower end of the bumper. The model's taillights are smoked now and plastic cladding has been applied all around the the lower end of the car, adding to the vehicle's ruggedness. Inside, the model receives a new steering wheel, upholstery, handbrake lever and gear knob.

More updates for Volkswagen's Polo line up

More variants of the Polo are to join the current line up, featuring new EU6 emission-compliant engines, revised exterior and interior styling, chassis enhancements and improved radar touting safety features.

The Polo TSI BlueMotion is powered by the company's new 94 brake horse power turbocharged 1.0 litre three cylinder direct injection petrol engine. With optimised aerodynamics and low rolling resistant 15 inch tyres, the model provides an official combined cycle consumption of 68.9mpg at CO2 emissions of 94g/km.

The new mid range Polo BlueGT is positioned beneath the Polo GTI and receives a number of styling touches over the standard Polo, including more structured bumper sills, a spoiler above the rear taillights, 17 inch wheels and tyres and a 15mm lower ride height. Under the bonnet the model receives a reworked version of the older model's turbocharged 1.4 litre four cylinder direct injection petrol engine, now producing 148 brake horse power.

Volkswagen's Polo R-Line styling package has also been updated and receives a high gloss grille insert, a re-profiled front bumper with newly designer air ducts and integrated fog lamps, wider sills, a more prominent spoiler above the rear tailgate, a new rear bumper with diffuser, chromed tail pipes and either 16 or 17 inch wheels. With these perfect attributes in mind, we do believe that this model will be a top contending rival for similar cars from brands such as,Peugeot.

Both hybrid and CNG variants are planned to enter production next year, the updated Volkswagen Cross Polo will debut at the 2014 Geneva Motor Show next week but unfortunately won't be offered in the UK market, while the standard Polo will go on sale in the UK in April.
