The New Peugeot 208 GTi On Sale in March
January 28, 2013

The all new Peugeot 208 Gti due in March!

March will see the release of many models in the car market with the new Peugeot 208 Gti being one of them. The new hot hatchback is expected to take off in markets such as the UK as it has received rave reviews across the board.

The 208 Gti is the successor to the 205 Gti and will be priced at somewhere in the region of £18,895 when it is first released in the month of March. The Peugeot 208 Gti is priced at £2,000 more than the main rival Ford Fiesta St, which is priced at £16,995.

The Ford Fiesta achieved the title of the record selling vehicle in the UK for 2012 and was not far behind its big brother in the Focus in the Global sales table. The Ford Fiesta is certainly the one to beat in this classification and the French mass market manufacturer is taking a big gamble with the pricing strategy but may claw back some of the profit lost during last years diabolical sales term.

Renaultsport Clio model is also due for release in March and may well be the biggest competitor in the market as they are equally a new model and a subsequently French model of that. Renault have rivalled both Peugeot and Citroen for years as the French look to stay loyal to their own car manufacturers.

The 208 Gti comes with the highly rated four cylinder 1.6 litre engine achieving 200bhp. That is 20 more bhp than the main rival Fiesta and also weighs 11lb less than the Fiesta. The 208 will reach 62 mph in 6.8 seconds again rivalling the Fiesta.

Peugeot have aimed to improve the feel and agility of the car to attract new customers after the 205 received bad press for the light steering. However, in the new model Peugeot have added weight to the steering and retuned the suspension on both the front and the back. Peugeot Citroen have recently announced the invention of a new technology that will see future cars powered by air.
