The All New Electric Volkswagen Golf

The Volkswagen Golf has recently endured a lot of success in the first 6 weeks of the new year having topped the sales chart in the struggling car market that is, the European Car market. The Volkswagen Golf is seen by many to be the Germans firms most valuable asset in terms of models and product range.

However, Volkswagen are looking at the development of an Electric Car Golf that will attract the greener motorist who are currently going elsewhere for their low emission fix. The model will be called the e-Golf which is similar to what other manufacturers are doing.

Mercedes, BMW and Ford have all joined the electric car market in the last twelve months as they look to reclaim a larger share of the market in growing electric car countries such as the UK. Volkswagen look set to take the electric car market by storm like they did with the original Golf model this year.

As mentioned earlier, the Volkswagen Golf has topped the sales chart in the whole of Europe after releasing the model at the beginning of the year. The Ford Fiesta along with the Focus were two of its main rivals as they fought there way to the top with the Golf model, seeing off other competitors in the Nissan Qashqai and the Vauxhall Astra on the way.

The e-Golf will have an impressive 109 mile range and Volkswagen have promised a five hour charge up time from the average household socket, which, in the electric car world is something to be marvelled at. The new e-Golf will also reach 0-62 in an impressive 11.8 seconds and will have a limited top speed of 84 mph.

There will also be three different specifications of the e-Golf in the Normal, Eco and Range models all specifically designed for the different motorist. The Eco will have a reduced top speed along with a peak power limit to coincide. The move will come as the UK promises a number of grants and government investment to improve the appeal of an electric car and the reduced emissions aim.
