Volkswagen have been hard at work over the duration of the past year developing their brand new MQB driving platform and the company from Germany have announced their intentions of how many models using the new platform they would like to produce over the duration of the next number of years. The MQB platform is being used in this generation and is currently used in around two million produced vehicles each year. Some of the biggest and best selling vehicles in the world use the very same platform and these all spread from the likes of the Volkswagen Golf, Polo range and of course the world famous, Audi TT. The firm have however stated that they are looking to increase the production of their cars using the MQB platform to upto a total of seven million vehicles by the time the year 2018 comes around. The new R8 from Audi has been leaked

We all know that Audi has big plans to reveal their second generation R8 model for the very first time in Geneva next week. Exciting news for car fans this morning though, as an image of the brand new model has been leaked online. The images which were posted on an online forum show the new model in a bright Red paint design travelling down the road. We also see studio images of the car in a Metallic Blue scheme aswell. It is safe to say that judging by looks alone, the new model is looking very much as good as we thought it would. The model will look to step things up by offering both a V8 and V10 engine range from the time of launch with strong possibility of the V8 coming turbocharged. New weight reduction features including carbon ceramic brakes and a carbon fibre bonnet will be brought into the mix. The new chassis included with the second generation model will also help to make the driving experience more stable thanks to the same chassis that can also be found in the Huracan model from Lamborghini. The new image which emerged online revealed features we were expecting such as LED daytime running lights, new body creasing and the large air intakes underneath the headlights. More confirmation on the technical side of things will be revealed in Switzerland.
