The new Vauxhall Astra is revealed
June 3, 2015

It has happened a little ahead of time but none the less, Vauxhall have revealed their brand new Astra model and have also given all of the information on the brand new technology to come along with the car including new engine options, gadgets and architecture. The Astra is without a doubt one of if not the most popular vehicle that the car firm offer and it has been offered here in Britain for the better part of over thirty six years. It has been one of the most dominating hatchback vehicles in its segment bringing the fight to the likes of the Focus from Ford and the Volkswagen Golf for many years. It also recently demonstrated its place on the market with large sales figures for the UK just last year which came in around the fifty thousand area. So what can Vauxhall possibly do with the next generation Astra to bring it to par and sell even more units than what they previously have?.

New specifications boasted by Vauxhall

So we are going to start off with the engine range firstly. A 1.6 litre diesel has been confirmed from launch and this will also be joined by the option of a turbocharged 1.4 litre petrol with a direct injection system fitted. Alongside this turbocharged petrol engine was another 1.0 unit with 103 brake horse power produced overall. The most powerful engine in the range is the 1.6 diesel with 158 brake horse power being the total power given out but can be chosen in smaller power outputs.

In terms of what's new technology wise for the next generation Astra,LED Matrix light technology is used on the car for the first time ever. Apple 'CarPlay' and Google Maps can also be used via the cars Onstar technology which was revealed earlier in the year by General Motors. This feature is also includes roadside assistance built in which could come in quite handy.

When will the new Astra arrive in dealers?

Along with the specifications and changes made to the car, the brand also confirmed that the new Astra will be made available from dealerships from this coming November and have also confirmed that a price tag starting at £13,000 will come along with it. This new model could very well be the finest Astra model put on sale and we see no reason as to why it could not be crowned the top hatchback in its segment. Other rival competitors may have something to say about that though.
